Natasha Freeman (LPA Stylist) and Sam Norman (LPA Hair & Make-up) recently teamed up with well known celebrity photographer John Wright on a fantastic project inspired by the French Revolution. The girls really displayed their creative expertise during the preparation for the shoot, coming up with a range of innovative ideas, resulting in some truly stylish andĀ beautiful images.
Natasha Freeman comments,
“This shoot was so much fun to work on and was a great opportunity to work with John and Sam as well as beautiful props and lingerie. I was able to loan the vintage inspired lingerie from the exquisite Bordello and the jewelery was a mixture of pieces sourced from the high street and kindly loaned from The Black Pearl. I was then also able to add my own individual touches sourcing feathers, masquerades, lace, ribbons, flowers and most amazing of all… shoes. I love the colour palette of the models styling along with the lavish decor of the location and am really pleased with how they work together. I have a real love of Marie Antoinette and this era so this really was a dream shoot for me – I hope it shows!”
Sam Norman tells of the preparation involved in the Hair & Make-up…
“The shoot had an extremely exciting brief involving not only wig design, but also wig building, body-painting and of course very glamorous make-up. The look was of the French Revolution era, with models donning powdered wigs and temptress like faces…
The wigs were to be the most work. Firstly, I designed the 3 wigs, sketching them out in full. I then built them up using a car sponge as the base and gradually added hair extensions into them to give volume. I only created them as ‘part’ wigs as I was keen to incorporate the models own hair along the front hairline so it would look seamless. Once all the hair was molded and styled I then sprayed it white.
The face make-up was airbrushed on, gorgeous layers of fuchsia and orange.
As this was a large brief every angle needed to be thought of right down to the nail design. I gave the two slightly punkier ladiesĀ red nails with a baby pink v and the classic looking lady a more conservative coat of beige.
The whole shoot was a brilliant challenge, with only 3 hours to do up 3 models, with full body-painting, make-up and wigs. I was lucky enough to have two lovely helpers, so was able to achieve the look required in time!
I really love the shots. The styling fitted perfectly and the photography was beautiful, and when you have all worked that hard, its a brilliant feeling when the images work out as well as they have done!”
John Wright was also pleased with the hard working ethic of the girls saying,
“I’ve worked with Natasha and Sam before, they will lend their hand to anything! They are always amazing, very calm under pressure, creative and super professional. They really went to town on this shoot, we are so happy with the results, can’t wait to work with them again!”
