CHARLOTTE WILLIAMS/JULIA FULLERTON-BATTEN/THE NEW YORKER

Last month LPA Style’s hair and make-up artist Sam Norman and stylist Charlotte Williams worked on a creative shoot with photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten for the New Yorker magazine.

The shoot took place in the Tudor Kitchen in Hampton Court Palace where Julia was commisioned to shoot British Historian and T.V personality Lucy Worsley for the food issue of the magazine. LPA Style’s Charlotte Williams and Sam Norman, did a lot of research into the styling which required Lucy Worsley to have an 18th Century look with a modern interpretation. Inspiration came from 18th Century paintings whilst still trying to concentrate on getting Lucy Worsley’s own personality across. Charlotte styled all the beautiful props, wardrobe and food for the shoot while Sam styled the incredible wig and make-up.

Charlotte Williams also worked on the styling for some of Julia’s recent personal work which you can see below the image of Lucy Worsley.

Over the past few months, LPA Style’s hair and make-up artists Ellie Tobin and Claire Louise and LPA stylist Natasha Freeman have been busy working on an exciting new Olympic project with the photographer Oli Kellett.

Team Vodkovia is made up of a fictional team of athletes, each of which have their own unique physical qualities. We love the imagination and creative styling that’s gone into this work. ELKIE PHILLIPS/IAN HARRISON/EUREKA MAGAZINE

For the October issue of Eureka Magazine, the monthly science supplement from The Times, LPA Style’s hair and make-up artist Elkie Phillips worked on a fascinating shoot combining science and fashion.

The shoot included some interesting pieces of clothing, such as a dress that helps reduce pollutants in the air and a coat that is made out of decommissioned military fabrics. The hair and make-up was beautifully sleek and neat and was highlighted with some great lighting by photographer Ian Harrison.

These beautiful images styled by LPA stylist Alice Timms and shot by photographer Sarah Cresswell capture the beautiful autumnal light in Whitstable.

Alice tells us a bit more about the idea behind them:

‘The shoot was inspired by the retro 50′s trend as seen on the spring/summer 2012 catwalks but we wanted to mix it with a grunge feel to it as well to make it modern and more personal. The photographer, Sarah Creswell, made the most of the gorgeous low autumnal sunlight to give the pictures all the sun flare and a nostalgic atmosphere. My favourite image is the one by the caravan with the slightly deflated heart balloon – we did this first and I was so happy with it. Also I love the shot inside against the curtain with the diffused light -I think the colours work really well together’.

We love Iain Crockart’s recent poster campaign for WorldSkills London 2011.

Commissioned by Purpose, Iain shot real Team UK competitors taking part in the WorldSkills Competition. The images were part of an advertising campaign to promote and encourage attendance at the event, now in its 41st year,
at the ExCel centre, London. The natural hair and make-up was created by Elkie Phillips (LPA Style).

LPA Stylist Natasha Freeman and LPA hair and make-up artist Ellie Tobin have just completed a beautiful young lifestyle shoot with photographer Nick Dolding represented by Horton-Stephens. The shoot was for Getty Images.

These ethereal, feel good images were taken in Epping Forest where the crew and models spent the day enjoying the sun and had fun in the evening with masks and head dresses. A great way to remember the great festivals and bit of sun we saw this year…long live the summer!

LPA STYLE/IPA AND AOP AWARDS!

We’re pleased to announce that two series of images that LPA Style worked on have been nominated for some top photography awards!

John Wright‘s stunning ‘Let them eat cake’ series that stylist Natasha Freeman and hair and make-up artist Sam Norman worked on won the second prize in the Advertising/Fashion Professional category of the International Photography Awards.

Another series of images that LPA Style worked on, this time by Nick Dolding, have made it into the book and exhibition of ‘The Commissioned Advertising Series’ catergory of the AOP awards. These quirky 80′s themed images were also styled by Natasha Freeman and the hair and make-up was by another brilliant LPA hair and make-up artist Ellie Tobin. This series also won the latest PDN awards. Phew that’s a lot of awards…great work guys!

Elkie Phillips/Andy Smith/Summer shoot

Elkie Phillips, one of our fantastic hair and make-up artists, set out last week to do a lifestyle shoot with the photographer Andy Smith.

The shoot took place on a beach in Burnham on Sea where the models could try out the surf and relax on the sand. The final images are a collection of really fresh, natural, feel good summer shots. Elkie tells us a bit about the shoot:

“I am really pleased with the photos that came out of my shoot with Andy, I love the light that comes through in all the shots. It was all really relaxed and I had the freedom to play around with hair quite a bit which was great! The weather wasn’t too good on the day but I think the shots give a real feel of just hanging out at the beach and having a good time which is what we did!”
