Nick David has recently been busy shooting at St Mary’s University College for their 2011 prospectus, commissioned by Graphic Design Consultancy Mytton Williams. Despite torrential downpour en route to Twickenham, after days of unbroken sunshine, the weather luckily did change for the better! Nick spent the days shoot with a selected group of students all around the campus and down by the river.
The shoot was a lot of fun with the added challenge of organising and directing large groups of chattering youths!

‘It was a great day and I think the students enjoyed themselves too which hopefully shows in the pictures’

The Big Poster Challenge-Casting

As promised we are going to show you some behind the scenes action of The Big Poster Challenge. Last week we held the casting at Big Sky Studios. We can now reveal that Rob Murray is the LPA photographer chosen by the winners of the competition. After explaining the ins and outs of the shoot Rob asked the models to show off their walks, a vital part of the shoot! Here’s a glimpse of the casting in full swing…

The Big Poster Challenge-Judging

We are conscious there’s been a rather lengthy silence with regards to The Big Poster Challenge since the call for entries went out , so here’s an update…

You may recall that back in January LPA, The Mental Health Foundation and Clear Channel Outdoor teamed up to launch an exciting competition for an extremely worthwhile cause.

We invited the nations creatives to propose their ideas for a poster campaign to help the public understand the invaluable benefits of Mindfulness, a simple form of meditation that alleviates stress, www.bemindful.co.uk.

The prize was to have the idea produced by LPA and shot by one of their leading commercial photographers, the final execution being unveiled on 48 and 6 sheet posters across the UK.

Judged by the most esteemed names in the communications industry, The Big Poster Challenge has been the competition everyone is talking about and we’re delighted with the tremendous response we’ve had.

The judging panel (see below) got together back in May at Big Sky Studios, and after a few hours of deliberation chose the winner. It was a fascinating afternoon and a real privilege to hear the opinions of such industry luminaries.

So now we have a winner and production is very much underway!

LPA’s Nick David had two vibrant images selected for this years AOP Summer exhibition which opened last night at the AOP Gallery. Here’s a couple of shots taken at event where much fun was had by all!

CHB-’Image of the Month’

Image of the Month is a temporary section on both the Creative Review and Handbook websites in the run up to the production of the new CHB.

Every Featured Agent’s artists (advertising in CHB 2011) will have the chance to appear on Image of the Month for a period of 1 month out of a 6 month run. The idea is that all artists submit one image and these images are randomly shown every time the relevant websites are visited, a number of agencies images in the mix every month. Clicking on the images will then take the viewer through to the relevant Agents’ full profiles on the CHB site.

At the end of each of the 6 months the image that has been viewed the most by the Creative Review site users will be picked to be one of the 6 front cover images for the Handbook, which would be fantastic!

The LPA photographer have the images below randomly being displayed for the rest of July until the 6th of August, so not long left to click on them.

Laura Pannack wins Foto8 ‘Best in Show’ 2010!

We are proud to announce that our own very talented LPA Futures Photographer Laura Pannack has just won the award for ‘Best in Show’ at this years Foto8 Summer show. Laura’s image of ‘Shay’ won over the judges with it’s emotion and incredible power as a stand-alone portrait. Laura picked up her prize winnings of £1500 at the launch party at HOST gallery on Friday 23 July where we all cheered on in support! The image was chosen from 153 photographs that comprise the Summer show 2010.

Summer show judge Monica Allende comments;

“This portrait is all about intensity. It’s a very close look at a human face that conveys emotion, too much emotion to comprehend. It’s a very raw picture that along with the tattoo on the arm of the young woman, makes you want to know the story behind the photograph.” – Summer show judge Monica Allende

The Foto8 Summer show opening is held like a mini festival on Honduras street, outside HOST Gallery where the images are exhibited from floor to ceiling. An abundance of of London’s photographic professionals gather together every year for a fantastic selection of food, drink and music to celebrate some of the most inspiring photography around. This year over 2500 individual images were entered into the Summer show open submission exhibition, so Laura did fantastically well to have 3 images in the exhibition. The show is running until 4 September 2010 so get yourself down there and take a look while you can!
